Atlanta bound

After sitting here trying to think of reasons not to do a new blog, I came up empty, only because the old 'I just don't want to' has been used up too many times now!!
So, last week Jama and I took a trip up to Atlanta to visit the AmericasMart January show.  It was a bit of an adventure, but well worth the trip.  This place is AMAZING.....it is three buildings filled with as many wholesale vendors as you could imagine.  Seriously, I can't even begin to describe it.  We sort of planned ahead because you just can't get to everyone and for some reason, we thought we could do it all in a day!!  So, we had our appointments, our little map and we were off.  We left town after my nail appointment (gotta have your priorities) on Wednesday afternoon, so that I wouldn't have to drive into Atlanta during peak hours (which is every hour apparently).  We arrived just after 8pm (if you caught our insta-story that was Jama's attempt at getting the city lights as we came it..she is new to the whole insta-story thing). We decided ahead of time to uber into town for the show the next day so that we wouldn't have to drive in that craziness.  And let me tell you, our uber driver took his job serious, he had hand sanitizer, hand lotion, mints and a phone charging dock.  It was amazing, he was a super nice guy and as you can imagine, he and Jama were best friends before we hit the interstate.
The show was amazing and we can't wait to show you all the new stuff that is coming in.  New shirts, new jewelry and some new home decor pieces.  It is going to be amazing (hopefully because we spent way too much money!!) But Jama insists that I tell you about our uber drive home (I guess she thinks that I make fun of only her in my blogs and never me).  So here goes, we are downtown Atlanta....police directing traffic, it is a crazy mess....its like 5:30 and of course it is sprinkling.  We are waiting for our driver in the designated area when we notice that the police aren't letting people turn down the road that we are on, so when the driver calls me I tell him that he should just keep going straight and we will meet him further down the road.  He says he (Ernest) is driving a black chevy car and will turn his flashers on.  Ok, perfect I think, so we head further down the road because by this time the police have figured out what people are doing and they are yelling and blowing their dang whistles at these drivers who are pulling over to pick people up.  So finally, I see a black chevy coming our way with his flashers on...this is it, I think.  I tell Jama "we gotta hurry and hop in, so he wont get whistled at"  only this guy isn't really slowing down....so here I am chasing him, saying "hey, hey, slow down, its me" , still not stopping, so I say "Ernest, let us in"......he just looked at me and said "not Ernest"  I thought that Jama and a couple of the other drivers around this guy were gonna pee themselves.  I was still trying to convince the guy that he was though, I said "but you are in a black chevy and you have your flashers on!"  Oh man, the memories!!
Since we are getting in so many new treasures we have decided that we should start opening up on Thursdays, it has nothing to do with the giant credit card bill we will be getting!  Hope to see you all soon.

A little Vacay....

So, settle in for a quick little ditty about our vacation to Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks.  We take turns picking where we want to go each year for vacation and Jama's husband Willy got to choose this one.  So, being the go-to travel guru I was faced with the task of planning this whole thing, which I did back in December of last year!! It just so happened that while we were gone there was to be a hurricane headed straight for us!  We debated on whether to go or not (well, Jama did...the rest of us only paused to think about it for 9.2 seconds) and then we heard there were fires in Montana near Glacier Park.  However, much to our children's disappointment, we decided to take this once-in-a-lifetime trip.  After all, Willy had been patiently waiting for his turn for quite some time.
As you can see from the pictures we had an amazing time (we even got Willy to smile for some of the pics!!) And our kids, who didn't think we were worried enough or appreciative enough made it thru the hurricane as I was confident they would, and did a fantastic job taking care of everything and cleaning it all up for us. (If you are reading this kids....we do appreciate you!!! And Jama was worried about you all!)
Now, we are back to work and getting ready for our next event this Friday night....I am sure Jama will be as busy as a rabbit on crack re-doing the shop and I will be there as ever-calming presence in her life trying to keep up with her.
Come see us Friday night (9/22) from 5-8 and ask us about our vacation.....now that I've posted these pics, we wont bore you with an impromptu slide show.

Well, we did it.  Yesterday we were contacted by Fox 35's David Martin because he wanted to feature us on the Good Morning Orlando segment he does.  As I am sure you can imagine, that was a no-brainer for us.  We had one day to prepare (yikes) what would we say, what would we do and most importantly, what do I wear?  "Don't worry" he said, I will ask some questions, we will show some of your products, it will all be good. I am not a worrier normally, but on this occasion, I started to freak out a little.  How does the store look?  Will Karen make it on time? Will I make it on time? Is there a way that I can hide of all the dang cats that Karen feeds? There is no question Jama would be on time, and since she is the one who normally does all the talking, maybe I can just show up for moral support, wave to the camera and hold up a product or two while she talks about them. And while it didn't go that way at all, David was right, it was all good. We all made it through, got some amazing advertising for the store, and had a good time doing it.  Not sure white pants were the right color and I don't think I want to watch myself (yes, I recorded it) but you wont see one single cat in any of the shots!

Our week at the beach

The adventures continue....we recently spent a week at the beach.  We hooked up our campers and headed over to the Jetty Park Campground.  The weather was amazing and we even talked our husbands into taking us deep sea fishing (see below slideshow).  There was no junking or picking on this adventure, just pure laziness, sun, fun and of course Willy's cooking.  Seafood galore....fresh oysters, shrimp, fish, and crab nearly every night. And for those of you who know me, no, I did not eat any of it!!!
Now next week, there will be plenty of junking as we head up to North Carolina to find some amazing treasures for the store. Jama and I get the royal treatment, Willy, chauffeurs us everywhere, cooks our meals and totes our treasures!!  I will be tagging along as the child they never wanted as it is too hard to convince my husband (who is actually his own boss) that his job will still be here when we get back (don't get me started)!!  But, be rest assured that I will be sleeping peacefully in the backseat of the truck all the way to cooler weather,  dreaming of rusty junk!

My First Blog

So, I don't have any photos and my daughter told me that if I don't have any that no one would read this, so if you want to stop right now and keep looking through our site, it wont offend me!!
Jama and I got a couple of orders in, so we decided to get together on Friday night and price some things and get them out for you all to buy! Now normally when we go to the store to "price some items" I am a little scared, because Jama has the energy of my (soon to be) 4 year old granddaughter after I have fed her a pack of M&M's, but this night I got lucky because by the time we got everything priced and put out, it was getting late and our husbands were getting hungry.  But what normally happens is this:
1. I get to store (10 minutes after her because she drives way too fast).
2. I look around to see if she has brought me a diet coke (she knows me!!).
3. She has decided that the one table in the back of the store has been sitting in the same spot for too long (at least two weeks).
4. We end up re-arranging the entire store!!
Pictures to follow on my next blog.....stay tuned!!
